Solar Pump - Design Details

Here are the design details for a Solar Pump, which can be used for a water feature. This design is battery powered, so that it can operate even when the sun is not shining. The battery is kept topped up by a solar panel. Rather than have a simple on/off switch, the pump has a motion sensor, and comes on for a pre-set time. This time can be set by the user to be a few seconds up to many minutes.

The Solar Pump consists of 4 main components which are listed below and are generally available from E-Bay or Ali Express.

1. DC 12V 3m 240L/H Ultra Quiet Brushless Motor Submersible Pool Water Pump  (£3 to £6)

2. DC 12V 24V 6A Automatic Adjustable PIR Motion Sensor Switch (£3 to £5)

3. 9V 21800mWh Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery (£6 to £8)

4. Solar panel 5 watt with USB (£5 to £7)
